ACID ATTACK SURVIVORS

We do not believe in capital punishment. We do not ask for acid attacks in retaliation. All that we are asking for is a change in the mentality of society. It is the responsibility of the government to rehabilitate acid attack survivors.

Pragya Singh, 23, was on a solo train trip from her native of Varanasi to Delhi just 12 days after getting married in order to pursue a career in apparel management. She had rejected a man's marriage proposal, and at two in the morning, while she was sound asleep, he threw acid on her face. The tragedy cost the young woman the sight in one of her eyes, and she needed to have close to fifteen surgeries.

Daulat, a resident of Mumbai, was brutally attacked with acid by her older sister and her brother-in-law when she was just 26 years old. She had numerous reconstructive surgery, and because of her new appearance, she experienced social rejection.

Anmol's mother was breastfeeding her when her father splashed them both with acid in an effort to kill them when they were just two months old. Baby Anmol miraculously lived although her mother passed away from her injuries. She spent her early years moving between operating rooms and hospital beds until being placed in an orphanage, where she was raised.

His landlord's son, who Chandrahass seen pestering a woman on the street, was the perpetrator. The perpetrator threatened him with severe repercussions when he stopped the assault. However, Chandrahass was unfazed and continued to complain to his landlord about his son's behavior. The son tossed a gallon of acid on him the next day, leaving him with over 40% burns and lasting stress.

Contrary to popular belief, acid assaults on men may be quite harmful. In reality, the National Crime Record Bureau reports that men account for roughly 40% of acid attack casualties in India.

Ram Raja's wife attacked him while he was asleep on March 8, 2020, at about midnight, when the event happened. His brother-in-law, who was in the open doorway, responded to his cries for aid by rushing over to assist the man. He led him to the showers. The hospital was then rushed to receive him.

After intervening to break up a fight between his brother and a neighbor, Firoz was attacked nearly 15 years ago. Returning with a bucket of acid, the disgruntled neighbor began pouring mugs of the acid on him one after another.
